In other words, AMD would have made money in the quarter were it not for a $120 million equity loss related to Global Foundries. Revenues were $1.65 billion, up 40 percent from a year ago.

Synchronoss plans to buy FusionOne in a deal that could allow phone users to sign up for a new phone and transfer data from their old phones at the same time. Synchronoss will pay US$40 million up front for FusionOne and will pay an additional $35 million if FusionOne achieves certain performance targets through 2011, Synchronoss said.

Synchronoss Technologies has agreed to pay as much as $75 million to acquire FusionOne , a maker of software that lets users back up and synchronize their mobile data.
