Synovate: 4 out of 10 Americans Would Share Personal Info for Free Music Downloads

February 4, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ An extensive study by market research firm Synovate has revealed that 39% of Americans would trade personal information in exchange for access to free music downloads and 25% would do the same for free music streaming.

The study, which focused on consumer attitudes toward marketing and music, reveals that 56% of all Americans are fine with viewing or listening to ads in exchange for free music downloads, while a few less (48%) would do the same for access to music streaming.

What is the value of privacy when so many are willing to give it away for some music? Are efforts and money spent to protect personal information on the Internet simply a waste of time when all it takes is some free music to pry it away from people?
